The Battle Of Evermore II
by John Michael Ray

The anger has subsided
And the hurt is all but done
I've said the things I need to say
I've said them all but one
If you should see me walking
Down a common street one day
Just keep on walking, walk on by
And look the other way

I know it isn't civil
And it probably isn't fair
For what we were together
Just to act like we don't care
The lies have breathed their own life
Taken forms all of their own
The lies have set the standard
And we really haven't grown

I have no interest knowing
How you've been or how you are
Even little what's-his-name
You used to keep so far
I hope you both are happy
And you both live long and well
You both belong together
To share each other's hell

They say misery loves company
I'm glad you've met your match
To fill your head with pretzel logic
Always with a catch
The truth has been so skewed by now
The facts don't stand a chance
A victim of another's will
And not our circumstance

I'm sure we could have talked this out
In a much more civil way
And both come to our own resolve
No static in our way
But now we'll never know again
The things we knew before
Cause now we have the recent past
To last for evermore
