In Like A Lion, Out Like A Lamb
by John Michael Ray

There's a fresh snow on my windowsill
And it feels like it's a hundred below
Never in my wildest dreams
Did I ever think I'd watch you go
Nothing I could do or say
To take the hurt out of your eyes
Driving off into the cold winter night
Leaving behind a million whys

It's been a long cold February
And change is just around the bend
Emotions chilled down to the bone
I hope I never feel this cold again
It's looking like a long, lonely season
I'm not sure that I can rise above
Watching the whole world start to bloom
Everything, except our love

As winter passes, Spring is in the air
Birds start to sing, new life everywhere
Time to step out, time to declare
Time to catch someone unaware
Take someone's hand, answer someone's prayer
Offer a love to which there's no compare
Birds are singing, new life everywhere
Winter passes, Spring is in the air

Days are longer, night are shorter
Temperature is on the rise
But the days all seem to run together
Left with thoughts of our demise
Our secret love, our secret life
Have gotten so hard to conceal
The energy spent keeping it under hat
Could have been better spent building something real

If the Summer has it's dog days
To describe it's scorching heat
The dead of Winter has got to have
A more feral and ferocious beast
As we attempt to tame that lion
As it makes it's final stand
We offer to the equinox
The yearly sacrificial lamb

As winter passes, Spring is in the air
Birds start to sing, new life everywhere
Time to step out, time to declare
Time to catch someone unaware
Take someone's hand, answer someone's prayer
Offer a love to which there's no compare
Birds are singing, new life everywhere
Winter passes, Spring is in the air
