Northern Girl
by John Michael Ray

The snow is falling, winter is calling
And I’m trying to find my way back home
I’ve traveled so far from where you are
I never felt so alone
My tracks in the snow seem to know where to go
They lead a path back to your door
My icy breath hangs in the air
I feel like I can’t breathe anymore

And if I could be anywhere
In this whole wide world
It would be at home, in the arms
Of a Northern girl

I don’t want to wait another day
I don’t want to live my life without
I don’t want to tempt fate, come what may
I don’t want to live in the shadows of doubt

Time is fleeting, self-defeating
I’ve had too much time on my hands
There’s been too many voices, too many choices
Buried my head in the sand
Time to step up, enough is enough
Let’s get this show on the road
Time to contend, had enough of pretending
Bearing that emotional load

And if I could be anywhere
In this whole wide world
It would be at home, in the arms
Of a Northern girl

I don’t want to wait another day
I don’t want to live my life without
I don’t want to tempt fate, come what may
I don’t want to live in the shadows of doubt
