Those Days (Letting Go)
by John Michael Ray

Two years have come and gone
Since your true colours came to light
I thought about you recently
I couldn’t sleep one night
Not much about the things you did
But more on things you didn’t
Not much about the things you said
But more on things you’d hidden

My battered mind-set looked to you
To close some open doors
Instead you got your kicks
From rubbing salt in open sores
I never knew it at the time
That I could make it through
That time would heal those open wounds
And I’d be over you

Now those days are gone
There were nights
I never felt so all alone
Good friends by my side
And even better friends
Who held me when I cried
Now those days are gone
There were nights
I never thought I could go on
Good loves by my side
And even better loves
That joined me on this ride

Two years have come and gone
I see new colours, see new lights
Don’t think about you much at all
Not many sleepless nights
That bus is finally pulling out
I can say I wish you well
I’ve watched it fade into new horizons
No more sorrow left to sell

Now those days are gone
There were nights
I never felt so all alone
Good friends by my side
And even better friends
Who held me when I cried
Now those days are gone
There were nights
I never thought I could go on
Good loves by my side
And even better loves
That joined me on this ride

Once upon a time
You had me drowning in doubt
Thinking without much reality
Once upon a time
You turned me inside and out
Those days now, are just a memory

Now those days are gone
There were nights
I never felt so all alone
Good friends by my side
And even better friends
Who held me when I cried
Now those days are gone
There were nights
I never thought I could go on
Good loves by my side
And even better loves
That joined me on this ride
