Untitled
by John Michael Ray

I read your life,
Boy was I surprised to see,
The things you said,
Were all the things you said to me,
But it wasn't me,
That was written on the page,
How did you think I'd react,
Now your so filled with rage,

I saw the names,
Of the ones who came and went,
A steady stream,
And a life of discontent,
Then there was me,
Not another word was said,
I'm the one who should react,
It's you who's seeing red,

So where was I,
On the pages of your life,
Did I even rate,
Oh, it cuts just like a knife,
It was never me,
That you were looking for,
Please tell me how to react,
And how to fight your war,

I must admit,
It kind of took me by surprise,
That fateful night,
I felt the fire in my eyes,
So I asked you,
Would you explain it if you can,
I didn't know how you'd react,
You just turned and ran,

It all makes sense,
Just had to take a second look,
Didn't rate a page,
Not even a chapter in your book,
Must have been me,
A distant ship passed in the night,
I must concede, I can't react,
I'm tired and you won't fight,
